More About Dr Bembridge

Dr Bembridge went to Medical School at the University of Leeds where he was awarded the Degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).

He has been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and has completed his postgraduate training to become a consultant. His certificate of completion of training was awarded by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the General Medical Council on the 31st July 2023.

He is currently working in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a locum Consultant Anaesthetist.

What is an Anaesthetist?

In the UK, Anaesthetists are Doctors that specialise in many aspects of patient care, they are most well known for "putting people to sleep for operations". However, their role extends much further than this.

  • Perioperative anaesthetic care and preparation of the surgical patient
  • Resuscitation and Stabilisation of Critically Ill Patients, including in the Emergency Department. This includes Transport of the Critically Ill Patient
  • Intensive Care Medicine (also called ICU, ITU, HDU, or critical care)
  • Pain relief and analgesia
  • Obstetric Anaesthesia, including pain relief during labour and childbirth
  • Pre-hospital emergency care
  • Sedation for procedures
